THE LAND

Maniototo landscape is unique in Central Otago.  No where else in Central is there such a wide sprawling plain surrounded by velvet mountains with rocky tors, that speak of secrets yet to unfold in its deep brooding valleys. The cool mountain streams and the clear, sharp light  that etches each feature in the mind, enhances the sense of space, freedom and tranquility that sets this hidden gem apart.  The Taieri River, with some of the best trout fishing in New Zealand, rolls lazily through the plain till it reaches the magnificent Taieri Gorge, plunges through to the Taieri Plain and so to the sea south of Dunedin.
