Jazz Evening – Ranfurly

Spend Friday evening (from 5pm) in Ranfurly enjoying the sounds of jazz in this historic Art Deco town in the heart of the Otago Central Rail Trail.  Special guest Jud Arthur (ex Otago Rugby player turned opera singer) will perform along with a selection of local jazz entertainers at selected establishments around the town.  Enjoy quality food, the company of past regional & representative rugby players, wine and music in soiree atmosphere.  Local retailers will also stay open for a late night shopping night so feel free to wander the streets for look around!

After a nights’ accommodation spend the morning exploring the Maniototo Plains, trying your hand at curling, visiting the Maniototo Museum Sporting Heroes exhibition, visiting Hayes Engineering Works in Oturehua, then, meandering through the Ida Valley and infamous Cromwell Gorge (and largest dam in the Southern Hemisphere) to the town of Cromwell.

Gala & Rugby Match – Cromwell

From 12 noon enjoy a community run gala event in Cromwell, only just over an hours drive from Ranfurly.  The highlight being a friendly rugby match featuring ex regional and national representative rugby players ‘competing’ alongside players from the local rural teams.  The gala will have something for the whole family – entertainment for the kids, market stalls, the finest Central Otago wines and local fare.  Stay the night and enjoy a World Cup match at local establishments then carry on to Queenstown for a Classic All Black match!
