Gimmerburn

The word Gimmer means ‘young ewe’ and this farming community produces fine wool and beef cattle.  Although the school and post office are closed, the community hall and the sports complex of rugby field, cricket pitch and tennis courts are well maintained by the local community.  The old school building (above) has been restored and is now used as a private holiday house.

Maniototo Town Halls … ideal rural venues
